An illustration. Not our price.
£30 storage? If only.
That is the price of the empty room. Not the price of getting your belongings into it.
You have seen the adverts. Storage from £30. Lovely. Now, unless your sofa has learned to drive, there are a few other things to pay for.
Traditional self-storage
The real cost
£135
Estimated total
- Advertised storage£30
- Van hire£70
- Fuel£15
- Padlock and insurance£20
And that assumes one day of van hire covers both journeys. Need the van twice? Add another £70 plus fuel.
Your time, lifting, loading, unloading and a wasted weekend? Not included.
Cube Drop
The simple alternative

A cheap storage unit is only cheap if your belongings can teleport.
£30 sounded cheaper. Until you needed to actually use it.
Cube Drop. Storage without the faff.
An illustration of a short hire, not a quote. £30 is the sort of figure a small unit advertises. It is not the price of a 10ft cube, and it is not what every storage place charges. Van, fuel and insurance vary. On these assumptions, the example adds up to £135.
The price first. The date second.
A house move, a renovation, or the weeks the house simply can’t hold it.

If those dates are gone
We only keep a small number. Tell us the day you need it, and for how many weeks. If a cube comes back, we call.

What it’s for
When the house is out of room.
House move storage
The old house has to empty before the new one is ready. The cube sits on the drive. No van. No code. No corridor.
Storage during a renovation
The kitchen can be in pieces. The sofa doesn’t have to be. Book the weeks the work takes. We collect it when the rooms are back.
Beside the job
Tools and materials, locked, next to the work. Dry. Then it goes. Not a skip. Not a site cabin.
The cube
A secure 10ft cube.
- About 2.44 metres wide, 3 metres long and 2.6 metres high. Inside, about 16 cubic metres. A one-bedroom flat, not a whole house.
- Treated against moisture and condensation. That’s included.
- Shelves if you want them. Say so when you book.
- A solid door. Locked. Yours until we collect it.
- It sits on a wooden frame. The cube never rests on the floor, so it leaves no scratches or marks.
How it works
It arrives. Then it leaves.
1Postcode. We say yes, or not yet.
2The weeks you need. One is enough.
3A delivery day, at least a week ahead.
4We place it at your door, then collect it. Both free.
The difference
Not a warehouse. Not a skip.
A warehouse wants a drive, a code, and a corridor. A skip is for what you’re throwing out. This sits on your drive until the weeks are done.
- We deliver it and we collect it. Free.
- Ground level. No lift. No loading bay.
- From one week to 26.
The round
This part of Cheshire. For now.
Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Holmes Chapel, plus about 12 km around the middle of those four.
- Knutsford
- Alderley Edge
- Wilmslow
- Holmes Chapel
The postcode decides it, not the town name. Just outside the round, leave an email and we will write when it grows.
Check your postcodeBefore we deliver
Two measurements, then we can say yes.
Measure the narrowest way in, and the ground the cube will sit on. If either is short, we can’t place it. We check again on the call, before a date is firm.
- The gap. 2.8 metres of clear width at the gate, between a wall and a car, and where the cube will stand. That is the 2.44 metre width of the cube, plus a little so it can pass through and be set down.
- The ground. Flat and firm under the whole cube. Concrete, tarmac, block paving or compacted stone. Not a slope, not a lawn, and not soft ground that will sink. The cube sits on a wooden frame, so it never rests on the floor and leaves no scratches or marks.
- The door end. Leave it clear. The doors open outwards.
- Permission. A short let on a private drive is often allowed. A conservation street is not a guess. We check that with the address.
Questions
The questions that decide it.
How much does the cube cost?
£100 a week. Delivery and collection are free, so four weeks is £400, not £400 plus a van. We confirm the figure with you before the balance is paid. One week is the minimum. 26 weeks is the longest we book here.
What size is the cube?
A secure 10ft cube, about 2.44 metres wide, 3 metres long and 2.6 metres high. Treatment against moisture and condensation is included. Shelving is optional.
How much storage do you actually get?
About 16 cubic metres inside. That is a one-bedroom flat: a sofa, a double bed, a washing machine and the boxes around them. It is not the contents of a whole house.
How wide a gap do you need to deliver the cube?
2.8 metres of clear width. The cube is 2.44 metres wide, plus a little either side so it can pass a gate or sit between a wall and a car. Measure the narrowest point on the way in, and the space it will stand in.
Does the drive have to be flat?
Yes. It has to sit flat and firm for its whole length. Concrete, tarmac, block paving or compacted stone. Not a slope, not a lawn, and not ground that will sink. The cube sits on a wooden frame, so it never rests on the floor and leaves no scratches or marks.
Are delivery and collection included?
Yes. We bring the cube to your door and collect it when the hire ends, and both are free. The earliest day is a week ahead. You don't tow it.
Can I use it as house move storage?
Yes. The cube stays on the drive while one house empties and the next fills. You are not driving to a warehouse each time you need something.
Can I use it for storage during a renovation?
Yes. Book the weeks the work takes. What can't live in the dust stays locked, outside. We collect the cube when the rooms are back.
Is this storage container hire?
Yes, with less faff. You hire a secure 10ft cube for the weeks you need, from £100 a week, and we deliver and collect it free. It is not a bare shipping container: it is treated so it stays dry, with shelving if you want it. And it is not a skip.
Can I add shelving?
Yes. Shelving is optional. Ask when you reserve, and we confirm it with the price.
Do I need permission for a cube on the drive?
A short let on a private drive is often allowed. A conservation street is not something to guess. We check the address on the call, before a date is firm.
How long can I hire the cube?
From 1 week to 26 weeks. Delivery and collection are free, and they are booked with the hire.
Can I get into the cube while it is on the drive?
Yes. It stays on your drive, locked, and it is yours until we collect it. Leave the door end clear. The doors open outwards.
How do I book?
Check the postcode, choose the weeks and a delivery day, and leave your name and number. A £50 deposit on the website reserves the cube. We then call to go through the details, and the balance follows that call. Or call 01565 662244.
What if the dates I want are taken?
We only keep a small number of cubes. Leave the day you need it, how many weeks, and a phone number on the cancellation list. If one comes free, we call, and a £50 deposit on the website reserves it.
Where do you deliver?
Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Holmes Chapel, and about 12 km around the middle of those four. The postcode decides it, not the town name.
